Voicemaxx Privacy Policy
Voicemaxx (the apps, websites, and related services) is operated by Starquest Studio LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), a Massachusetts-based company located at:
Starquest Studio LLC 82 Wendell Ave Pittsfield, MA 01201 United StatesContact: [email protected]
This Privacy Policy explains what information Voicemaxx collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with. It replaces any prior version of this policy in its entirety.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Voicemaxx iOS and Android apps, website assessment and checkout, subscription management, accounts, invite links, referral and community backends, and AI processing gateway. By using Voicemaxx, you acknowledge the practices described here.
The Android app is available from age 9 with a restricted, private child experience. Community, dating, selfie analysis, referral, purchasing, and third-party analytics features are available only to adults. See Section 12.
2. Data Storage Philosophy
Voicemaxx trains your speaking voice through recorded drills, an optional community voice-rating feature (Voice Arena), an optional AI-analyzed selfie feature, and a friend-referral program. Some of what you do in the App stays entirely on your device; some of it is necessarily sent to us or to the third-party processors described below so those specific features can work. This policy tells you, plainly, which is which.
2.1 Stays on your device
- Your voice recordings and drill takes (the audio files themselves) — these stay on your device unless you choose to share a specific recording to Voice Arena (Section 5.4), which uploads that one recording
- The AI-deepened preview of your own voice generated during onboarding — this is produced entirely on-device by a local pitch/formant-shifting engine; your audio is never uploaded to create it
- Your pitch, resonance, and clarity scores from voice analysis — measured on-device via local signal processing, not sent anywhere
- Your name and onboarding "commitment" signature
- Your age range, quiz answers, and vocal-habit answers, except that for known-adult users a limited set of non-sensitive profile choices may be attached to pseudonymous analytics as described in Section 3
- Your course and drill progress
All of the above is stored locally in the App's on-device database. We cannot see, access, or recover it, and it is deleted automatically when you delete the App.
2.2 Sent to us or a processor, because the feature requires it
- Anonymous usage and diagnostic events for known-adult users (analytics — Section 3)
- A selfie, only if you choose to use the optional LooksMaxx feature (Section 5)
- Spoken text you produce during an AI roleplay/avatar practice session, only while you're using that feature (Section 5)
- Your email address, only if you choose to opt in to the squad referral program (Section 6)
- A voice recording, plus the display name and accent description you enter, only if you choose to share a recording to Voice Arena (Section 5.4)
- An account identifier and authentication-provider identifier when an adult creates or signs in to an account; we do not receive the password for a Google or Apple account
- If you use the website assessment, the broad goal, selected plan, anonymous browser session identifier, attribution parameters, checkout email, and IP-derived tax location needed to price and process the purchase; detailed assessment answers remain in your browser
- If you manage a website subscription, the billing email, a short-lived hashed cancellation-code record, the Stripe subscription status and paid-through date, the time and reference for the outcome, and any optional cancellation reason or comments you choose to provide; the code is used to authenticate the request, financial cancellation records are retained as required, and optional comments are deleted within 180 days
3. Analytics & Attribution
We use analytics and attribution SDKs to understand how the App is used, diagnose problems, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing. These tools automatically collect:
- An anonymous, randomly generated install identifier (not your name or email)
- Device type, OS version, IP address, and app version
- App usage events (e.g. which screens you open, when a drill completes) and crash/performance diagnostics
- Recording-quality diagnostics for voice takes (e.g. audio dropout counts, input route) — technical metadata only, never the recorded audio itself
- Install-attribution data (which ad or link led to your install), and, only where you have granted Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission, advertising identifiers used for that attribution
The providers we use for this are:
- PostHog — product analytics. Privacy policy.
- Mixpanel — product analytics. Privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — session replay and product diagnostics. We use a random app identifier rather than your name or email. Privacy statement.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (via AppsFlyer) — ad performance and attribution. The App does not include Meta's SDK; AppsFlyer sends only the install and app-event postbacks we configure for Meta. Your advertising identifier is included only if you grant ATT permission; otherwise Meta receives privacy-preserving or aggregated attribution data. Privacy policy.
- AppsFlyer Ltd. — install attribution and App Store purchase validation. When ATT is undetermined, the App delays AppsFlyer's first session while waiting for your response (subject to a short timeout), then uses non-identifying attribution methods if you decline. Subscription revenue sent through AppsFlyer's validation service is based on an App Store-validated transaction rather than the App's displayed list price. Privacy policy.
This data is pseudonymous, tied to the anonymous install identifier rather than your name or email, and is used for product improvement and marketing measurement. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to build cross-app advertising profiles beyond the install-attribution purpose above.
Android child and unknown-age users. On Android, these analytics, attribution, and session-replay services do not start until the user has selected an adult age range. We do not request the Google Advertising ID. Users who select age 9–12 or 13–17 remain in the private, child-safe experience and are not sent to these providers.
4. Onboarding Information
During onboarding you provide your name, an age range, and answers to a short quiz about your voice and goals; you may also draw a signature on a "commitment pledge" screen. Your name and signature image are written only to the App's local on-device database and are not sent to our servers or analytics providers. For known-adult users only, the age range and a limited set of non-sensitive product choices (such as daily practice commitment, referral source, selected product segment, gender selection, and privacy-consent choices) may be attached to the pseudonymous analytics profile described in Section 3. Voice measurements and recordings are not attached to that profile. No onboarding information is sent to an AI provider.
5. Voice Analysis & AI-Powered Features
Remote AI is optional and off by default. Before Voicemaxx sends personal data to a remote AI service, the App identifies the data and recipient and asks you to turn the relevant permission on. If you decline, the transfer does not occur. You can change the global AI choice under Profile → Data & privacy. Voice Arena asks separately for its reported-clip moderation use before each upload.
5.1 Voice recording, scoring, and the deepened-voice preview
When you record a speaking sample, Voicemaxx analyzes it entirely on your device using local digital signal processing — no audio is uploaded to measure your pitch, resonance, clarity, or stability. (The only time a voice recording leaves your device is if you deliberately share one to Voice Arena — see Section 5.4.) The "deepened voice" preview you hear during onboarding is your own recording, pitch- and formant-shifted by an on-device audio engine; it is not generated or processed by a third-party AI service, and the source audio never leaves your device to produce it.
If you choose to enable live speech-to-text during a drill (so the App can tell when you've finished reading a prompt), transcription uses the speech-recognition service supplied by Apple or Google for your device. Depending on your device and settings, the platform provider may process this on-device or transmit audio to its servers to generate the transcript; that processing is governed by the platform provider's privacy policy, and the resulting transcript is used only to time the end of your take.
5.2 LooksMaxx (optional selfie analysis)
LooksMaxx is an optional bonus feature. Only after you turn on the disclosed AI permission and choose a selfie, the photo is resized and compressed on your device, then sent to our Cloudflare AI Gateway, which forwards it to Google Gemini (a Google LLC service) for an entertainment-grade aesthetic readout and improvement tips. If you leave AI sharing off, cancel the confirmation, or do not use LooksMaxx, no selfie is sent.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — proxies the request and holds the upstream API credentials so they don't ship inside the App. Privacy policy.
- Google LLC (Gemini) — analyzes the selfie and returns the rating. Privacy policy.
We do not store your selfie on our servers after the request completes, and the resulting score/thumbnail is saved only in the App's local on-device database.
5.3 Timed-response coaching
The optional timed-response lesson can provide personalized writing and speaking feedback. Only after you turn on the disclosed AI permission, the App sends the speech transcript, assigned category and topic, duration, word count, words per minute, and filler count through our Cloudflare AI Gateway to OpenAI. OpenAI returns coaching about confidence, structure, pace, and concision. The raw audio recording, your name, email address, photos, and videos are not sent to OpenAI for this feature. If permission is off, the App uses local scoring and coaching heuristics instead and makes no remote AI request.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — proxies the request and holds the upstream API credential. Privacy policy.
- OpenAI, L.L.C. — analyzes the transcript and speaking metrics and returns the coaching response. Privacy policy.
Voicemaxx does not store the submitted transcript or speaking metrics on its servers after the response is returned; the lesson result remains in the App for the active session.
5.4 Voice Arena (optional community voice sharing)
Voice Arena is an optional community feature. Your voice test is private by default. Only if you tap to share a specific recording do we upload anything: at that point the recording, along with the display name and accent description you enter and your approximate country (derived from your IP address at upload, used to group you with similar listeners), is sent to our Cloudflare Worker backend and stored on our servers (Cloudflare D1 and R2).
- What other users see. Your shared recording, your chosen display name, and your accent description are shown to other Voicemaxx users so they can listen and rate your voice. Ratings, one-tap descriptors, and any comments others leave are shown back to you, attributed anonymously. Do not enter a name, accent, or recording you are not comfortable making public.
- When you rate others. The scores, descriptors, and any comment you submit about another recording are stored on our servers and shown anonymously to that recording's owner.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this backend and stores the audio and associated data on our behalf. Privacy policy.
- Reported-clip safety review. Before upload, the App separately asks whether you permit Cloudflare Workers AI to receive and transcribe the recording if another user reports it. This switch is off by default, identifies the audio and recipient, and must be turned on before the Share button is enabled. If a consented public recording is reported, it is removed from circulation immediately and Cloudflare Workers AI may transcribe the audio so an authorized human moderator can review it. Recordings uploaded by older versions without this permission are not sent for AI transcription.
- Removal. A reported recording is removed from circulation immediately. You can remove your own shared recording at any time by recording a new one, and you can request deletion of Voice Arena data we hold as described in Section 11.
We use this data only to operate Voice Arena. We do not sell it or use your recording for any purpose other than the community feature you chose to use.
6. Squad Referral Program
Voicemaxx includes an optional post-purchase referral program ("squad"). If you choose to opt in, your email address and an anonymous install identifier are sent to our Cloudflare Worker backend, which issues your invite code, tracks your 24-hour recruiting window, and — if your squad succeeds — uses your email to deliver a reward code. We use your email solely to operate this feature and are not otherwise using it for marketing communications. If you don't opt in to squad, no email address is collected.
7. Notifications
Voicemaxx uses local, on-device notifications only — for example daily practice reminders you opt into during onboarding, and, if you join the squad program, a short series of reminders about your recruiting window. We do not use push notifications, and no notification content is sent to or generated by a remote server.
8. Health, Wellness & Medical Disclaimer
Voicemaxx provides general voice-training, self-improvement, and entertainment content only.
- Voicemaxx is not a medical device.
- Voicemaxx does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or clinical speech-language therapy.
- Voicemaxx is not a substitute for care from a licensed physician, otolaryngologist, or speech-language pathologist.
- The LooksMaxx feature is entertainment-grade and not a dermatological, cosmetic, or medical assessment.
If you experience voice loss, persistent pain, or another medical concern, please seek professional care.
9. Payments & Subscriptions
App subscriptions and digital features are processed through Apple In-App Purchases on iOS or Google Play Billing on Android. We receive transaction identifiers and entitlement status needed to verify and restore purchases, but not your full payment-card details. The applicable store's privacy policy governs its billing data.
Website subscriptions and optional physical-product purchases are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects the payment, billing, contact, tax-location, and, for shipped products, delivery information entered at checkout. Stripe shares the customer, subscription or order, payment status, tax, transaction, and fulfillment details we need to provide access or deliver the product, prevent fraud, manage cancellation, support customers, and maintain legal and accounting records. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. Stripe processes this information under its Privacy Policy.
A successful website subscription creates or updates an account tied to the checkout email. Our email processor Resend sends access instructions, short-lived cancellation codes, cancellation confirmations, and confirmations when a save offer is accepted. The public cancellation form does not require an account login. It may ask optional exit questions and show an optional one-time retention offer; the reason category and whether comments were provided may be included in pseudonymous product analytics, while the comment itself is not sent to our analytics provider. We retain subscription and cancellation records for access, billing, fraud prevention, disputes, tax, accounting, and legal obligations; short-lived cancellation-code records expire automatically, and optional free-text cancellation feedback is deleted within 180 days. See our Subscription Terms and Terms of Service for billing, cancellation, merchandise, and refund terms.
10. Data Selling & Sharing
We do not:
- Sell personal data
- Rent or trade personal data
- Share personal data for third-party advertising beyond the attribution purposes in Section 3
We share data only with the processors named in this policy, each acting on our behalf for the purpose described. Our agreements and service configurations require these processors to protect the data using safeguards that are the same as or equivalent to the protections described here, to process it only for the instructed purpose, and to apply their published security and privacy commitments. Separately, if you choose to use Voice Arena, the recording, display name, and accent you submit are shown publicly to other users — this is sharing you direct and control, not a sale of your data, and it happens only for recordings you explicitly share (see Section 5.4).
11. Your Rights & Data Deletion
You can delete your account in the App under Profile → Delete account, or follow the instructions at voicemaxx-ai.com/delete-account. Account deletion removes your authentication record, active sessions, referral profile, and Voice Arena recordings, ratings, reports, and blocks associated with your account, and clears known local Voicemaxx files on that device. Account deletion does not cancel billing; use Manage subscription separately. We may retain minimal transaction, cancellation-confirmation, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, or legal records where required, but not use them to keep your account active. You may also request access, correction, portability, objection, restriction, or deletion by emailing [email protected]. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights and may complain to the relevant data-protection authority.
12. Age Requirement & Children
The Android app may be used from age 9. It asks for an age range before profile questions or third-party telemetry begins. Users who select age 9–12 or 13–17 receive a restricted private experience: no account creation, Voice Arena, public sharing, dating practice, LooksMaxx selfie analysis, referral program, purchases, rating prompts, or third-party analytics, attribution, or session replay. Voice tests remain on the device unless the user is an adult and expressly chooses to share one. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child through the restricted experience. Parents or guardians may contact [email protected] or review our Child Safety Standards.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you within the App.
